Working Principle

A centrifuge operates on the principle of centrifugal force, which is generated by high-speed rotation. The process begins when the material to be separated is fed into the rotating basket of the centrifuge. The centrifugal force pushes the denser solid particles outward toward the perforated basket wall, while the lighter liquid phase moves inward and drains out through the designated outlet.

The filtration or sedimentation process depends on the type of centrifuge being used. In filter centrifuges, the liquid passes through a filter medium while solids are retained. In sedimentation centrifuges, heavier particles settle against the walls, while clarified liquid is discharged continuously. This process enables efficient separation of solids and liquids, ensuring high-purity results in industrial applications.
